The organisers included Lok Raj Sangathan, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Popular Front of India, Communist Ghadar Party of India, Sikh Forum, United Muslims Front, APCR, SAHRDC, PMS, Scientific Socialism Journal, Social Democratic Party of India, Welfare Party of India, Citizens for Democracy, AIMMM (Delhi), CPI (M-L)-New Proletarian, APCR, SIO, MEC, HNES, NCHRO, Socialist Party (India).

As in the news lately, layoff has become yet another daily topic to discuss, especially among IT employees. Cognizant and few other IT organizations were in the spotlight for illegally terminating their employees quoting poor rating in their annual performance appraisal, which is per company’s policies and benefits, not entirely based on employees’ talents or hard work. The employees who were affected, filed petitions against the technology firm for forcing them to resign or terminating them abruptly, all over India with help and support from FITE.

ThumbnailOn 27th October 2017, for the first time, in a path-breaking meeting, various Railway worker unions and passenger associations came together in Mumbai and denounced the Railway administration’s and Railway Ministry’s apathy towards the safety of railway passengers and workers.

The initiative taken by Lok Raj Sangathan and Kamgar Ekta Committee in association with the All India Guards’ Council got a very good response.

Thumbnail२७ अक्टूबर २०१७ को मुंबई में एक ऐतिहासिक मीटिंग हुई. इस मीटिंग में रेल मजदूरों के कई यूनियन और रेल यात्रियों के कई संगठन एक साथ आये और रेल यात्रियों और रेल मजदूरों की सुरक्षा के प्रति रेल प्रशासन और रेल मंत्रालय के उदासीनता की जमकर निंदा की.

लोक राज संगठन द्वारा व मज़दूर एकता चलवल तथा आल इंडिया गार्ड्स कौंसिल के साथ मिलकर ली गयी इस पहल को रेल यात्रियों और रेल मजदूरों के संगठनों से बहुत अच्छी प्रतिक्रिया मिली.

ECI’s credibility undermined

According to former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) SY Quraishi, by not declaring the election schedule of Gujarat along with that for Himachal Pradesh, the ECI has created a "ground of suspicion" as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Gujarat on October 16 to address a rally wherein he is likely to shower 'goodies' on the state's voters.

Consultation on countering hate organised by Citizens Against Hate

ThumbnailOn 12th October 2017, the Citizens Against Hate Campaign organised a public consultation during which the fact finding report titled “lynching without end” was released. The report covered stories of lynching and encounter killings across eight Indian states with the maximum number of cases in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. The purpose of the report was to find the perpetrators of these hate crimes and the aftermath as well tracing the progress of the corresponding legal cases.
