The Lok Raj Samiti of Padgha constituted on August 8

On 8th August a meeting was held in a hall near the Rice Mill of Padgha village (Thane district, Maharashtra) to constitute the local Lok Raj Samiti. More than 150 people attended the meeting. A 20-member Executive Council was elected, which includes women and men, young and old. Members of Lok Raj Sangathan had come from Padgha as well as from many neighbouring villages. Some had come from as far away as Thane and Ulhasnagar.

SEEKING YOUR SUPPORT for the Workers' Struggle!

Workers including of the Viva Global Factory, including women were brutally beaten up with hockey sticks and lathis by goons called in by the Management of Viva Global, the Gurgaon based sweatshop apparel house. The incident happened this morning between 9:30 and 10:00 AM when workers were to enter the premises of the Factory, as part of a tripartite agreement between the Management of Viva Global, the Labour Department and the Garment and Allied Workers Union (GAWU).

Demonstration demanding repeal of AFSPA in Kashmir and Manipur

A Successful Event on the Occasion of the 63rd Independence Year of India, Organized by LRS

Hundreds of people as well as the residents of the resettlement colony participated in the event with zeal and enthusiasm. Resident youth and members of Lok Raj Sangathan participated in the event along with their friends and relatives.

Public meeting on reconstitution of Lokraj Samiti

Hundreds of people and the residents of the colony participated in the meeting with full zeal and enthusiasm. Members of Lok Raj Sangathan residing in the worker’s colony as well nearby colony represented their colonies and participated in the event.

Victory in the Struggle on Health Care

health.jpgIn the Tehsil of Nohar a district of Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, a struggle started in June demanding the right to basic health care has seen victory. At the initiative of Lok Raj Sangathan, the Sanyukt Swasth Kendra Bachao (Save the Health Care Centres) Sangharsh Samiti, including LRS and other like-minded organisations, was formed to carry forward the struggle.

Days before 26th January 2010, the motormen had given a notice about a one day strike. This was done in accordance with the laws of the country. At that time, the government had promised that it would immediately start discussion on the demands of the motormen. This was why the motormen called off their strike on 26th January.
